| Customer Reviews: It's okay April 19, 2009 Erin Kolks (Missouri) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It's a good product. The only problem I have with it is the fact the the ice pack that goes inside it melts about an hour into my two hours at the gym.
Its an odd thing August 20, 2009 What I think (NC, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I found that the terry material is a bit cheap, the black fuzz came off and stuck in my neck wrinkles. Looked funny for a bit. They are a bit stiff when frozen solid and dont touch the neck well till they melt a little. I found them bulky and uncomfortable when moving around, like doing lawn work, bending etc. I feel like i have to keep my head still when i have it on.
Simple, effective, and convenient. August 21, 2009 Damian Cross (Indiana) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I use these ice bandanas after my runs in order to cool down quicker. At first, like the previous reviewer, I couldn't feel the ice against my neck and it appeared as though the fabric was too thick to allow for heat conduction through the ice pack. Then I discovered that you must wet the fabric before putting on the device. With the fabric wet, it allows the heat to transfer through the water that soaks into the fabric and into the icepack. It is kind of like the reverse of the concept of a wetsuit. Anyway, I found that these are simple, work extremely well if you wet the fabric and they are washable, so overall I'm happy with my purchase. My only gripe is that they did not include some kind of instruction sheet recommending wetting the fabric; however, the sweat from a person's skin would eventually do the trick (if you are a sweaty person, that is).
Nice when 1st put on. July 18, 2009 Obiburner (Bend, OR United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
These are a great idea for those of us who are prone to being uncomfortable in heat. I live in the mountains and love the cold. When I visit flatlanders, most of whom live in San Diego, or Florida, I'm hot, hot to the point of being snappy or short tempered.
I had to attend a wedding in Florida this last July 4th. It was an outdoor wedding so I knew I'd be extremely uncomfortable. I found these on Amazon and decided to purchase four units as they came with extra gel/ice packs.
1st, if you have a fat neck, you will not be able to close the bandanna with ice pack completely around your neck as shown in the picture, although the two ties are velcro so you can secure it.
2nd, the claim it will"keep you cool for hours" wasn't accurate for me at least. The best I was able to get was around 40 minutes, and that was inside a small room that was air conditioned, but had a lot of people in it so the air wasn't as effective as one would expect.
As I had extra ice packs, I did place one inside the band of my straw hat which has lots of ventilation. I ran through those in about 20 to 25 minutes, again, while inside.
Your experience may be very different than mine, as I run hot most of the time. Just be aware that if you do run extremely hot, you most likely will need plenty of ice packs, which are sold separately.
Oh, and keep in mind a lot of people will think you look dorky with this particular style.
Disappointed July 13, 2009 Suzen (Hawaii) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I looked around for a while before deciding to buy this ice bandana. It sounded great but I'm disappointed with the actual product for several reasons, mainly because it doesn't work well. I can barely feel the ice in the bandana unless I tie the bandana really tight, which isn't very comfortable. Also, the black terry cloth on the inside of the bandana leaves black residue all around my neck if I'm sweaty.
